SUMMARY:  This grant funded position is responsible for the outreach, recruitment, and screening for workforce skills training and support programs offered by Goodwill and community partners, along with promoting job opening shared by local chambers/businesses. The position will also build and maintain strong relationships between the UpSkill Waco initiative (a collaborative initiative in McLennan County to align education-to-workforce systems and increase equitable workforce training pathways in high demand, high paying occupations) partners and assist with data collection/evaluation for the initiative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Utilize marketing and community-based outreach strategies to promote awareness and access to resources of community workforce initiatives.
  • Recruit individuals seeking reskilling/upskilling opportunities for partner workforce training programs.
  • Refer individuals to support services offered by partners such as job readiness, job retention, education, and financial literacy.
  • Connect individuals to job openings shared by chamber and industry partners.
  • Manage workforce skills training applications and conduct screenings for programs.
  • Provide follow-up services to individuals and partners to collect recruitment data and ensure participants are connected to the appropriate training and resources.
  • Provide recruitment services at multiple community locations as scheduled by Mission Services Director and partners.
  • Maintain knowledge of local agency services, programs, and other resources.
  • Input relevant participant data into data management system (Salesforce) for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Ensure case notes are completed and entered for assistance provided to participants in a timely manner.
  • Maintain participant records and files while ensuring confidentiality of all records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All individuals must pass a drug screen.  A criminal background check is required.  A credit check may be performed as well as a driver license check.  Must be able to pass a motor vehicle report, maintain a personal vehicle for company travel, and maintain minimum liability insurance on the personal vehicle.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in a customer service industry/position.
  • Preferred work experience in workforce development and/or community organizing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:                                     

Ability to read the English language required.  Ability to read, write, and speak the Spanish language preferred.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay: $17.00/hour
