OUR BELIEFS

Goodwill is more than a retail store- it’s a community resource.  Your generous donations help fund Goodwill’s no-cost, public Learning Centers and Computer Labs, which house knowledgeable teachers motivated to guide individuals to career success. Our Mission is to actively pursue the full participation in society of people with disabilities and disadvantages by expanding their opportunities and capabilities through our employment and training programs.  Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries, Inc. believes in the power of work.  We believe that work plays a crucial role in everyone’s life.  Work defines who we are and builds our self-confidence and self-esteem, helping us relate to our families and to the community.  Through our various training programs, we do more than just help people find jobs, we assist them in overcoming barriers by providing a support system that allows the individual to take control of his or her own life.  We believe it is important to enable each person to make a meaningful contribution to society by helping them become working, self-sufficient citizens.

WHO WE SERVE

Learning Center services are open to the public. Those individuals with disabilities or disadvantages are strongly encouraged to take advantage of Goodwill employment and training services.

OUR SERVICES

Heart of Texas Goodwill Learning Centers offer various, computer classes to include: Computer Basics, Internet & E-mail, Intro to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.  The Learning Center Staff can also help with Operating Office Equipment and Budgeting & Personal Finance.  Also offered, even on an individual basis, are Job Search Assistance, Resume Writing, Career Exploration, and Interview Skills Training.  The Learning Center staff works hard to engage with local employers, and are able to recommend qualified applicants straight to them.
